I hope you’re correct but as a Brit who has just seen a right wing government, with a Prime Minister and politicians whose racism, Islamophobia, homophobia and misogyny (the list goes on) is well-documented, was voted in despite all of the above. Not to mention clear evidence of being deeply untrustworthy. I thought the electorate would have seen it as a massive red flag but it turns out I was wrong. With Trump, I fear the same will occur where decency won’t be considered as a prerequisite for re-election. If anything, the moral void will appeal to a larger section of the electorate than we’d imagine. Highlighting his catalogue of wrongdoings may just serve to boost his popularity amongst those who view him as a champion for all they felt and wanted to say before he emboldened them to being to do so. Nevertheless, let’s hope you’re right!
